Dying to Live is really all about "living"

I started this blog to help others die to the things that are keeping them from truly living. I talk about everything from taking every thought captive to making healthy choices when eating. I have been on this journey for over 15 years now and finally decided it's time to share it with others. Come join me and learn why we must die in order to truly LIVE!

Stone your brother, or your son or daughter........

March 30th "One Year Bible"
Deuteronomy 13:1-15:23
It was an interesting passage today. In verses 13:10...it mentions to stone and put to death anyone in your family or elsewhere that tries to get you to serve other gods. Whoa!!! That was a powerful solution to anyone trying to get you off track. It really reminds me of the seriousness of following the Lord and although he might not want us to stone our brothers/sisters...he does want us to flee from anything that would have us serve anyone or anything other than him.

Quick Healthy Dinner tonight

Broiled salmon with lime, lemon juice, sea salt and pepper
Baked Sweet Potatoes
Roasted Asparagus with olive oil and balsalmic vinegar
Salad with romaine, tomatoes, olives, artichoke hearts and cucumbers.
Homemade salad dressing (Recipe on the side of Bragg's apple cidar vinegar bottle). It was great!
Dessert-Strawberries, bananas and blackberries

A tip for getting my kids to eat their veggies...if they do not eat their veggies then they cannot have snacks later:) So far, it is working well.

Busy day but this was a quick, healthy dinner.

We finished the night off reading our One Year Bible and a story from the Miller's.

I am so thankful for my family!!!

Why I Am Not A Vegetarian: The China Study

Why I Am Not A Vegetarian: The China Study

Article about "Why I am not a vegetarian"

I posted an article tonight that was really interesting. I have read "The China Study" and found it fascinating. My husband and I also did live out this lifestyle for a few months following Dr Joel Fuhrman's book "Eat to Live" which is based on this study. It did drop his cholesterol by about 30% in 4 weeks but we have added some fish and a little chicken back in our diets. I personally feel better when I am having more protein. But I still believe that the more plants the better! I would love to hear any of your feedback about this subject. I have done a lot of research on this one and still feel I have much to learn!

Moisturizer

I wanted to share a tip with you that my friend from Denver taught me...she told me to use Coconut oil as a moisturizer. I have been using it and love it. My favorite brand so far is Spectrum that I bought at Whole Foods.

This is a much safer alternative to putting all of those chemicals on our skin.

Have you ever read the back of your lotion?

Good or Excellent

Today try to choose to do what is excellent. There are many good things that we can spend our time doing but starting today.....let's try to choose what is excellent.

"Therefore, I urge you, sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God---this is your spirtual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is---his good, pleasing and perfect will."
Romans 12: 1-2

Zig always said...

When I worked for Zig he used to always say, "You are where you are and what you are because of what's gone into your mind but you can change where you are and change what you are by changing what goes into your mind." This is so true and has proved to be true over and over in my life. When I find myself struggling....I don't have to go far to find it has a lot to do with what I have been thinking, watching and putting into my mind. When I am diligent to think of the things that the word of God says and to put the right things in my mind then the proper results are produced.

In the same way...You can change where you are and what you are by changing what you put into your body. If you are feeling sick and tired today then ask yourself...what am I feeding on? Am I feeding myself junk? Am I eating foods that produce energy and life? In the same way we need to take captive our thoughts we need take captive our food if we want to have different results. If you keep doing the same thing over and over...you're going to keep getting the same thing.

Why not try something new today...let's put things into our minds that produce the Godly life we are trying to live. There is so much junk thrown our way every day...let's be careful about the choices we make about what we watch on tv, read in magazines, listen to on the radio and friends that we choose to be around. Let's make wise choices when we choose our food...fresh fruit, whole grains, vegetables, nuts, and lean meats. You can change where you are and what you are by changing what you are feeding your mind and body!

Have a blessed day!

Verse of the Day

For, "Whoever would love life and see good days must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from deceitful speech. He must turn from evil and do good; he must seek peace and pursure it.
